Abstract

Based on three decades of experience in the regulation, markets, and development of electric power plants, including the first generation of nuclear power and the passing initial nuclear renaissance, Dr. Hollaway will discuss the factors behind the movement to construct the next generation of small modular reactors, the headwinds that face the next generation of nuclear power, and what needs to be done to make the next generation of nuclear power plants a stable and enduring reality.


Biography

Dr. Hollaway is a Partner with the international law firm of Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher, in Washington, D.C. Dr. Hollaway’s practice focuses on energy regulatory and transactional law, including renewable solar and wind power, nuclear power, and high voltage transmission. He graduated from the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, Georgia with a Bachelor in Nuclear Engineering. He also earned a Ph.D. and S.M. in Nuclear Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Dr. Hollaway also earned a J.D. from the Georgetown University Law Center in Washington, D.C. In addition to his legal work, Dr. Hollaway is also Mayor of the Town of Clifton, Virginia.
