Abstract

The applications for interventional oncology applied to cancer care and clinical value in the management of liver malignancies: This seminar will focus on the role of image analysis for image guided minimally invasive cancer therapies and decision making in interventional oncology. The application of image-guided dosimetry for Y90 Selective Internal Radiation Therapy (SIRT) using our Velocity™ advanced imaging solutions will be presented. Velocity Rapidsphere is an integrated image-guided dosimetry system for calculating the absorbed dose from post-treatment Y90 imaging studies. Rapidsphere can assist cancer care teams in better understanding tumor response and normal-tissue toxicity on patients receiving Y90 SIRT. The learning objectives for the seminar are: 1. Participants will be able to summarize the principles and applications of image guided minimally invasive tumor therapy including ablation and embolization methods. 2. Describe the role of cancer imaging and multi modality tumor tracking for local therapies of liver cancer. 3. Understand the clinical process for Y90 image-guided dosimetry analysis for SIRT


Biography

Dr. Tim Fox is a versatile and entrepreneurial Vice President with a documented track record of success in the healthcare IT and medical device industries. An oncology and data imaging expert with diverse experience across product development, clinical, and academic settings. Passionate about building and leading high-performance teams to solve customer problems and improve client outcomes using innovative software and data analytics. Selected career accomplishments include: Ø Entrepreneurialism and Innovation: Co-founded, developed, and commercialized Velocity Medical Solutions, an oncology imaging and data platform, and achieved the profitable sale to Varian Medical Systems. Velocity is currently used at over 450 cancer centers globally, including 25 of the 50 top cancer centers in the US. Ø Clinical Leadership: As Director of the Emory University’s Medical Physics Program, led the clinical care team in treating over 3,000 cancer patients annually across five major Atlanta hospitals.
