Abstract

This presentation gives an overview of the fusion nuclear technologies used in the components that surround the plasma in a magnetic fusion device. The last part of the presentation focuses on research activities on high heat flux testing and for the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor or ITER ongoing at Sandia National Laboratories. Dr. Nygren has worked at several national laboratories and at the University of California and his presentation includes some photos of places he has enjoyed hiking near these institutions as well as information on student programs at Sandia.
