Abstract

The Advanced Research Projects Agency Energy ARPAE is founded to develop and support disruptive impactful projects that can help to reduce energy imports, improve efficiency and reduce emissions. The relevance of ARPAE has never been more paramount as the current energy landscape is undergoing significant changes due to the introduction of various renewable energy sources, and the ongoing trend of electrification of systems. Trends such as the rise of digitalization, big data, artificial intelligence, and electrified transportation, will further accelerate the energy landscape change. Other transportation sectors, such as Marine and Aviation still require significant innovations to reduce emissions. ARPAE Program Director Peter de Bock will share his vision on these topics and invite the audience to discuss their views of technology needs to prepare for this exciting future.
