Abstract MR-LINAC: Facility Design, Installation, Commissioning and Go-Live MR-guided radiation therapy (MRgRT) is a very promising cancer treatment technology that is rapidly being adopted across the world. The technology combines Magnetic Resonance Imaging with a Linear Accelerator (MR-LINAC) to provide superior real-time soft-tissue visualization and tumor tracking during radiation treatment. Combining these modalities into a clinically usable device is an amazing physics and engineering feat. The challenges and considerations for facility design, installation and commissioning of a MR-LINAC are unfamiliar to most radiation oncology clinics. This presentation is a review of the Penn State experience. |
