Abstract

In the first years of its operation, the Mayak Production Association, a facility part of the Soviet nuclear weapons program in the Southern Urals Russia, discharged large amounts of radioactively contaminated sewage water into the nearby Techa River. The work presented here describes an experimentally independent assessment of the air kerma at the location of the former village of Metlino at the Techa River. For the dose reconstruction Brick and TLD dose measurements as well as Monte Carlo calculation were used.
