A Multi Fluid Analysis for Nuclear Fusion Ignition and Burning Plasmas

This talk describes new multifluid analysis of burning fusion plasmas such as ITER and the conditions that will be required for such plasmas to achieve the “ignition” condition in which the fusion plasma is producing all of the energy necessary to maintain the plasma at temperature in the presence of transport, radiation and other energy loss processes.
Dr. Guazzotto received his MS (2002) and PhD (2005) in Physics from the University of Rochester and his Laurea in Ingegneria Nucleare (Nuclear Engineering) (2000) from the Polytecnico di Torino. He has held research and visiting scientists postions at the University of Rochester, Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory, CNR Instituto Gas Ionizzati, MIT Plasma Fusion Center and ther University of Rochester. His research interests are the equilibrium and stability of flowing plasmas in magnetic confinement devices.
