Biography Dr. Jonathan Colton is a professor of mechanical engineering at Georgia Tech. He is the director of the Institute’s Center for Polymer Processing. As former associate director of the Manufacturing Research Center, he developed the Institute’s graduate Manufacturing Education Program. He is a fellow of both the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and the Society of Plastics Engineers. Dr. Colton served on the boards of directors of SPE’s Composites Division and Medical Plastics Division. He serves on the Technology Development Advisory Committee for the United Nations Development Programme Global Environment Fund’s Global Healthcare Waste Project. In addition, Dr. Colton served as a member of the Technologies and Logistics Advisory Committee for the Department of Immunizations, Vaccines, and Biologicals of the World Health Organization. He was the 2007 recipient of the Jack Ziegler Woodruff School Outstanding Educator Award. Prof. Colton’s research interests are polymer and polymer composites processing, medical device design, and the development and application of appropriate technology to resource-limited environments – Design and Engineering that Matter. |
