Biography

Jill McWhirter is a partner at King & Spalding, LLP – the largest law firm in Atlanta and one of the top 20 law firms in the world. Jill has an undergraduate degree in nuclear engineering from University of Michigan and worked for Westinghouse Electric Corporation at the Savannah River Site and at the Bettis Atomic Laboratory as a decontamination engineer before redirecting her professional career to the practice of law. Jill advises clients in the global marketplace on their technology transactions by providing practical strategic guidance to help clients profitability develop, protect, share and exploit their technology and intellectual property assets. She assists in engineering the intellectual property side of corporate deals, negotiating contracts, providing straight-forward risk assessment analysis, IP development, licensing agreements, procuring and negotiating software, enterprise and cloud-based agreements and strategic counseling. Much of her time is spent working on large-scale transactions that have a significant IP component and she is able to bring significant benchmarking opportunities to companies by understanding the risks and terms being negotiated across the industry. Most recently, Jill and King & Spalding is the lead law firm in assisting Natura Resources, LLC in all matters related to the research, construction and operation of the molten salt research reactor being constructed at Abilene Christian University in conjunction with top universities contributing to the research and development, including Georgia Tech
