Abstract

The goal of radiation therapy is to deliver tumoricidal dose to clinical target volume (CTV) while sparing organs-at-risk (OAR). The first part of this talk will be on hybrid proton-photon inverse planning for optimized combination of CTV coverage and OAR sparing from proton or photon therapy alone. The second part of this talk will be on deep learning based CBCT image reconstruction method for accurate patient setup and adaptive radiotherapy.

Biography

Hao Gao, PhD, joined Emory in 2018 as an Assistant Professor of Medical Physics in the Department of Radiation Oncology. Dr. Gao is interested in novel imaging methods and systems, computational methods for dose calculation, image reconstruction and inverse optimization particularly on proton therapy, and artificial intelligence for radiotherapy. Prior to arriving at Emory, Dr. Gao was on the faculty of the Departments of Mathematics and Computer Science and Radiology and Imaging Sciences at Emory University (2012-2013), and the School of Biomedical Engineering at Shanghai Jiao Tong University (2013-2016).
