The Fukushima Daiici Nuclear Plant response following the March 11, 2011 earthquake and tsunami will be described. This will set the context for discussion of what was learned and the subsequent actions being taken by the US and global operators to reduce the risk from externally generated natural external events.
Dave is a seasoned veteran of the nuclear industry. He is currently the INPO Vice President International and the WANO Director of the Atlanta Centre. During his 9 year tenure at INPO, he has held team manager, manager of Organizational and Human Performance, and Vice President of Plant Technical Support positions. Prior to joining INPO, he held a variety of executive and management positions including engineering director, plant manager, vice president engineering, and vice president of nuclear operations in support of the Palisades, Palo Verde, Salem, and Hope Creek nuclear power plants. He is a graduate of Michigan State University, Wharton Business School Advanced Management Program (AMP) at the University of Pennsylvania, and has earned an MBA from Keller Graduate School of Management. He is married with four adult children and resides in Gainesville, Georgia.
