SUMMARY

Hybrid manufacturing is a novel technology consisting of combined additive and subtractive manufacturing processes on the same machine tool. It presents many challenges and opportunities when it comes to subtractive toolpath optimization as the topology of the deposited surface can be very irregular. This thesis will discuss methods of approximating the geometric part surface and optimizing the subtractive operation's toolpath.
