SUMMARY

We are attempting to characterize the Sound-scape environment in Military Treatment Facilities. This characterization includes evaluating overall acoustic measurements, evaluating the experimental data against standardized guidelines, and evaluating objective Sound-scape data to subjective surveys that characterize the perceived environment. The purpose for this research is to better understand what the sound environment is in world-class military hospitals and to use the knowledge gained toward design criterion of future hospital systems. The subjective survey analysis will include how the environment is perceived by staff, patients, and visitors.
