TITLE: Design and Initial Optical Characterization of a Lean, Premixed, Prevaporized Combustor

This thesis describes the various design considerations involved with the construction of a lean, premixed, prevaporized (LPP)
combustor for supersonic civilian relevant transportation. Specific emphasis is placed on the construction of the exhaust tailpipe,
emissions probe, and individual characterization of the premixer. Next, the background and implementation of the four different
optical diagnostic techniques used (PDPA, DIH, Fuel PLIF, and OH* Chemiluminescence) are reviewed. A correlation between
PDPA and DIH for droplet diameter characterization is then explored in the wider context of the premixer characterization. Finally,
the first year's test campaign for the LPP combustor are detailed with recommendations for future design considerations.
