SUMMARY
The goal of this research focuses on the design for manufacturing assembly (DFMA) heuristics and observes how the application of different modalities affect the participants' abilities to redesign for manufacturing assembly. By using this methodology, a study was carried out to investigate how novice students apply heuristics to redesign for manufacturing assembly when heuristics are provided in different modalities. This study contributes to guiding designers DFMA during part design, focusing on the effects of modality presentation on redesign tasks and highlighting its potential benefits for novice designers in an engineering education context.
