SUMMARY

In an effort to enhance and optimize the predictive capabilities of nuclear fallout software at ORNL, methods of advanced deterministic radiation transport, radiation detector modeling, and event physics have been employed in order to develop software capable of simulating the collection of airborne radioactive debris by sampler aircraft. This effort will culminate in the first detailed model of the radiation detection technology and sample-collection devices found on nuclear cloud sampling aircraft, such as the WC-135.
